The Student Program remains one of Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival’s core endeavors, fulfilling our educational mission of connecting local students to films that entertain, educate and inspire while highlighting important social, cultural, political, and environmental issues. The program continues to grow, hosting more middle and high schools screenings.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to ALL educators throughout Flagstaff who make magic happen in our schools on a daily basis!
Through support from the Flagstaff Unified School District and our sponsors, the “Student Program” brings in approximately 1200 high school and middle school students from around Northern Arizona to view films at the Orpheum Theater and at their local schools. These sessions have been programmed specifically for the students with an accompanying curriculum, introducing students to a new genre of filmmaking: utilizing film to bring an awareness of the cultural, environmental, and global legacy they face. In addition, we are continuing with our traveling program where films from our festival are screened to middle and high school students on the Hopi and Navajo Indian Reservations that are unable to attend our festival in Flagstaff.
