Single-Use Plastic-Free Festival

Single-Use Plastic-free: Bring your own reusable water bottle and/or cup!

Plastic pollution is one of the primary threats to our planet.

In the United States, the recycling rate of post-consumer plastic is falling; today only about 5% of plastic waste is recycled. The rest of this plastic waste ends up in landfills, along roadsides or in our rivers and oceans. Better sorting of recyclables at home would help, but the fact is that not all plastic or other materials that we think of as recyclable can actually be recycled.

A better solution is to REDUCE OUR USE.

The Azulita Project’s mission is to empower community action to prevent and reduce plastic waste. We are proud to help make the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival a single-use plastic free event.

Azulita focuses on plastic recapture, consumer education and reducing plastic use with businesses, schools, organizations and community members. We work internationally, supporting ocean-bound plastic recapture along Mexico’s Pacific shoreline, and running community education programs in Flagstaff, Arizona.

You can make a difference:

  • Avoid plastic packaging.
  • Use bulk and refillable options whenever possible.
  • Bring your own reusable water bottle and food containers.
  • Look for plastic alternatives such as glass, aluminum, or paper.
  • Support policy solutions that present practical plastic reduction strategies.
