Salween Spring

Salween Spring

8 minutes, USA, 2016

Travis Winn first came to China 15 years ago to kayak a first descent with his father. Over the years, he’s explored more rivers in Western China than anyone else. But as China’s roaring economy develops, he’s also seen those rivers disappear behind dams. Now, Travis has started a rafting company to bring Chinese to see their mother rivers before they’re gone. Kids and parents from the cities on China’s East Coast come across the country to experience river life on the Salween River, challenging themselves in the rapids and getting closer to nature. “Salween Spring” is Travis’s mediation on a quickly changing country, his personal struggles, and kayaking along one of China’s last wild frontiers.
