What was it like to graduate high school in the year 2020? And what’s the connection between the pandemic, chronic disease, and the food we eat? Set amidst COVID-19 arriving in Arizona, “The Seeds Our Ancestors Planted” is an inspiring short film that follows Diné Flagstaff High School student @koi_loi_begoi as he joins a growing food renaissance across Navajo Nation.

Into the Ice” is a journey into Cordillera Darwin – a remote, wild and mostly unexplored mountain range at the tip of South America. In spring of 2022, seven friends sailed, climbed and explored this pristine place to better understand how its mountain glaciers are responding to climate change. In far Northern Arizona on the Navajo Nation lies an archaeologically rich canyon, called Tsegi. Steeped in a rich cultural history tucked into the alcoves of these steep sandstone walls, this beautiful and remote canyon is home to a number of Navajo ranching families who have, for generations run cattle, sheep and horses on the lush fertile grasses of the canyon floor. Slowly at first, these families began to see the land literally wash away before their eyes.

Armed with new knowledge and the desire to heal the land, these families recognized that the warning signs are too important to ignore. In the fall of 2018, the families launched a pilot project to see what could be done. Starting with 1,000 acres, then growing to many more, the livestock was temporarily removed and native plants planted in strategic locations to bring the watershed back to ecological health. The willows, cottonwoods, and wetland grasses have returned, and with them the sounds and signs of migrating birds, frogs, and native wildlife that symbolize a healthy ecosystem.

The families throughout Tsegi were so taken by how quickly the land has begun to heal, they decided to continue the project on an additional 5,000 acres.

Their story is about choosing to make a sacrifice for something larger than their ranching income. They have chosen to bring the medicine back to the land and heal.

This award-winning film was written, co-directed and originally scored by Flagstaff Youth! They won a national comp @youthmakingripples film fest in 2017, presented at a conference and became shark scientists for a day on a shark-tagging expedition!

Our oceans are in trouble. Plastic pollution is greater than ever and Earthlings are slow to change their ways. An alien arrives. He takes us on a journey through time; from the past, to the present and to a possible 2050 to illustrate what the world's oceans might look like if behavior remains unchanged. For this alien, this is “The Last Straw.” Will he succeed in encouraging Earthlings to change their ways?

The Scott and Norma Matheson Wetlands Preserve in Moab, Utah is a rare and extremely diverse ecosystem in an arid environment. This film takes us on a journey through this lush oasis that attracts more than 200 species of birds, amphibians—including the northern leopard frog—and aquatic mammals such as the beaver, muskrat and elusive river otter.
