Living with Fire in the Grand Canyon

Living with Fire in the Grand Canyon

Film Session(s)

4 minutes, USA, 2016

This film shows firefighters at Grand Canyon National Park setting prescribed burns as they talk about the importance of fire management and risk assessment. It incorporates original film footage with archival film and photos illustrating historic forest conditions, fire suppression activities, and wildfires. It also includes interviews with forest researchers showing how scientists know what they do about forest conditions and fire regimes. Fire – and fire management activities – are expected to be a common and integral part of the Grand Canyon forest ecosystem.
