This short film documents the Inclusive Outdoors Project's Adaptive Avalanche Recreation Level 1 course, held last April. Bringing together adaptive athletes and avalanche professionals, the course offered hands-on avalanche safety training tailored for for with disabilities. Set in the expansive backcountry of Cooke City, Montana, the film explores the practical skills, insights, and teamwork that go into preparing for winter mountain environments. "Adaptive Avalanche" highlights how adaptive athletes build expertise, brainstorm new ideas that work for each individual, and confidence to navigate snow-covered terrain, demonstrating the importance of inclusive education in making backcountry spaces safer and more welcoming for everyone.
