Dr. Martin Tease
Dr. Martin L. Tease is the current Vice President of Flagstaff Pride!
Born on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday (January 15th), Martin was named in honor of Dr. King, with the M and L in his name paying tribute to his legacy of justice and equality.
Dr. Tease’s first introduction to Flagstaff Pride was during the very first Pride event in Flagstaff while attending NAU as an undergraduate. When he returned to Flagstaff for work, he joined the Flagstaff Pride Board to become actively involved in all things 2SLGBTQIA+.
For five years, he served as the Coordinator for the Office of Inclusion: Multicultural & LGBTQIA+ Student Services, later taking on a special assignment managing the Meaningful Engagement Network (M.E.N.), a program supporting male students of color. In both roles, he used his voice to foster awareness, cultural competency, and leadership development for male students of color and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Prior to returning to Flagstaff, Dr. Tease worked in television and film production in Los Angeles and while living in the United Kingdom. His work as a production manager and creative consultant for commercials, music videos, television and film continues. In addition, Dr. Teases teaches Ethnic Studies courses on Race, Identity, and Film, focusing on multicultural and diverse films, their production, development, and meaning. He is also an accomplished DEIJ trainer, specializing in bias, LGBTQIA+ communities, anti-Blackness, and social justice.
His dedication to inclusion and empowerment is his passion and work that he brings to all of his endeavours!
