B.I.G. – A World First

B.I.G. – A World First

29 minutes, Norway, 2025

In autumn 2023, Jakob Schubert achieved the first free ascent of one of the world's hardest climbs in Flatanger, Norway. The famous "Project Big" turned into the route B.I.G., with a proposed grade of 9c. Together with climbing phenom Adam Ondra, who had bolted the line, Jakob worked on completing the ascent – a unique joint venture between two of the sport's absolute elite. Equally unique and spectacular: all of Jakob's attempts were streamed live on YouTube, keeping the global climbing community on edge – no one knew if, or when, success would come. The film B.I.G. captures this tension and uncertainty, turning Jakob Schubert's triumph into a gripping shared experience. The film takes you not only up to the anchors but deep into the world of friendship-driven elite sport – with incredible motivation, relentless discipline, unshakable passion, and, because of all that, a profound joy in climbing.
